Fall Decor

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors, sights and smells it brings with it and I love decorating the house in the gifts nature brings me this time of year. I found some thistles on the side of the road the day we went to the pumpkin patch. I never thought of them as being attractive, but the lavender color struck me and I had to have them!! I also got some peacock feathers from the pumpkin patch to add to my collection. I love bringing nature inside - it brings life and color into the house. Here are some pics of my fall decor:

Pumpkin Patch Day

Today we set off for our family tradition of going to the pumpkin patch. It's a fun time every year, and the kids each pick out a pumpkin or two. The day was perfect and we got some really cute pumpkins! Here are some pics of the day:

New Fence!

We're really enjoying the new fence our land lord installed today! Here is Ron taking a peek out from behind it. Ron trimmed the cannas in the area and is getting the garden ready for winter.

The Many Reasons I Love Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year! Here are some of the many reasons why:

Sarah and my birthdays are in October

I love watching the leaves change into beautiful colors of red, orange and yellow

Pumpkins: carving them, decorating with them, etc.

The weather here in Humboldt County is beautiful in the fall, (usually)

The kids have loads of fun with Halloween, dressing up, etc.

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend to pick out the some local pumpkins for our front porch. The kids had a good time and got some real winners! It was Justin's first year walking through the pumpkin patch and he had a great time, as did Sarah. Here are some pics from the day:

Costume Party #2

Ron and I went to a costume party last night dressed up as Abrahem the salt merchant and his first wife Miriam. Ron's costume was authentic dress from Niger and mine was borrowed from a belly dancer. This is the most skin I will ever show in public!
